I te 04 o Whiringa-ā-nuku 1996, i toka te whakaaro o te whānau o taua wā kia whakatūria i tētahi Kura Kaupapa Māori me tētahi Kōhanga Reo.
Ko Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Ara Hou, ko Te Kōhanga Reo o Te Ara Hou ngā ingoa.
E rua ngā Kōhanga Reo i kōwhirihia i Pāharakeke, i Heretaunga. I angitū Te Kōhanga Reo o Te Raukawa.
I te 16 o Mahuru 2004, i whakamoea Te Kōhanga Reo o Te Raukawa, ā, i ara ake a Te Kōhanga Reo o Te Ara Hou.

History
On 4 November 1996, the founding whānau of that era began their journey away from mainstream to establish a Kura called Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Ara Hou. Their vision also included a Kōhanga Reo carrying the same name, that being Te Kōhanga Reo o Te Ara Hou.
After several hui were held with two founding whānau who each ran a homebased Kōhanga Reo in Flaxmere, Hastings, Te Kōhanga Reo o Te Raukawa was the successful one chosen.
On 14 May 2003, Te Kōhanga Reo o Te Raukawa relocated to a designated classroom, on site of the Kura, based in Pirimai, Napier.
On 16 September 2004, they were officially granted their name change to Te Kōhanga Reo o Te Ara Hou.
In October 2005, an application was made to Ministry of Education for a Discretionary Grant to build their brand new Kōhanga Reo alongside the Kura at our current site in Onekawa, Napier.
On 1 October 2007, the whānau and tamariki moved into their new surroundings!
Fast forward to 2023, we are flourishing!
